Frozen Hands [Gt Oneshot]
I gathered my things and stood silently, slipping my notes into my bag, and then my hand into my pocket. Scarlett’s heart rate picked up, though she stayed asleep, merely flinching away from my fingers. I pulled out and away, instead favoring cradling her shape from outside my jacket. She calmed, shifting her miniscule weight more towards one corner as I moved. It was almost 3 in the morning. The janitor across the room froze, hoping I would avoid them, which I did. They didn’t look at me as I slipped out the front door, and I ignored the fact that their quiet, trying-to-be silent yet labored breaths returned to normal once I was gone. Snow fell mutely and the street was empty, as it should be so late into the night. I shifted my bag more comfortably away from Scarlett and turned down an alley to get home faster.
